Infrastructure
The CSCR is a 41,000 sq ft, a three-storied building which will house approximately 10 principal investigators and their teams. The center has modular laboratories equipped for cellular and molecular biology research and core space for shared equipment.
It is designed to seamlessly accommodate changes in scientific and programmatic directions over time.
The layout is hexagonal with the inner part being the core facility surrounded by individual laboratories, the office area, meeting rooms and a library. This is to provide easy access to the core facilities and foster interactions.
In collaboration with faculty of other departments of CMC, the CSCR initiative would enable significant engagement between basic and clinical scientists aimed to accelerate the biomedical translation of stem cell and regenerative medicine research. The laboratory animal facility is located in the basement of the building.
GMP Facility
A 5000 sq ft current good manufacturing practices (GMP) facility is located in an adjacent building for processing and expanding cells under for clinical trials and therapeutic applications.
PhD Program
CSCR has an active Ph.D programme and the students will be registered under Thiruvalluvar University or Sree Chitra Thirunal Institute of Medical Science & Technology.
